SPORTS MASSAGE | GUA SHA & TOOLS FOR THE THERAPIST (Pre and Post Event)

LIVE! FUN! INTERACTIVE AND HANDS ON!

This class will cover the following aspects of Sports  Stretching: PNF STRETCHING (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) Upper and lower body.

8 CE’s

Students will learn techniques to add to their skill sets as massage therapists and sports massage therapists. This will include learning the basics of Sports Massage such as Pre, Post and Intra Event Sports Massage as well as Sports Maintenance Massage. Also included will be the origin of sports massage, effects of sports massage to the client, and benefits and contraindications of Sports Massage.

Gua Sha (Graston, muscle scraping) techniques on upper and lower body will also be taught and certificate given in GuaSha. Titanium gua sha (graston tool will be included for the student to keep.

Also covered in the class will be :

  • Proper foam rolling techniques
  • Proper use of lacrosse balls to break up adhesions
  • Use of other tools for the therapist including percussion tools such as the Hypervolt

The students will also be given a brief introduction to:

  • Assisted Stretching Active and PNF as well as Pin and Stretch ( to use on clients and for self care).

These skills are designed to give the therapist added skills to use on themselves for self care and for their clients.

Students will be asked to bring sheets, lubricant (gel, lotion).

Class will be very participative. Please wear loose clothing and shorts.
